"I was seeing certain successful people making comments that I could link back to Napoleon Hill. DR. Dre, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis a whole Bunch of people. As a matter of fact I don't know if you've seen the Alicia Keys new video but the song and the video reveals the secret in Think and Grow Rich. As a matter of fact the girl in the diner where the video is shot is reading Think and Grow Rich. And there are maybe thousands of people listening to the song and like the video but will never get. But they're buying it like crazy.Quincy Ellis"
Whitney Houston: There was a time in the singer's career when she had more smiles, more concert appearances and less facial bruises. Maybe her life will improve sooner than expected. Fox News reported that Houston and husband Bobby Brown spent Christmas apart and that she is back in New Jersey surrounded by family and friends - a bodyguard or too wouldn't hurt either. Let's hope her New Year's resolution is to remain free from abuse in any form, drug or physical. Life's too short to spend time in a mental gutter.

"Dear Dec - Just a quickie - considering NS10s have been discontinued - what do you
think of the MSP10s that are being pitched as the NS10s 'evolutionary'
replacement?I realise that you can get replacement parts for the NS10s but I don't really
wanna start building speakers as well as everything else (if I can avoid
it).Without the NS10s to recommend - what would you suggest?
Thanks as always

dec@makehits.co.ukLike most guys in the 'pro' side of the game we are blessed with having Yamaha NS10's. They are just so good...and so Industry Standard....every studio has them, world wide, so, in theory, our material sounds the same in each studio.
Those white drivers in the black boxes send out a big message: "we make serious music here!"
I have not heard of any comparable speakers and guys are searching high and low to get their hands on original NS10's. I would think they are now fetching a premium price.
Do not even think of making your own, with the speaker components. The results will not be impressive. There is a lot of black magic involved in tuning speakers.
I do not know the speakers you speak of. At the end of the day, it seems the only way forward is to audition speakers in a shop that has a multiple speaker set up. [Guitar Amp and Keyboard Centre in Brighton...ask for Sangib... tell him Dec sent you]
Be careful you are not influenced by the 'nice' sound of the speakers. NS10's are extremely 'flat' and accurate in response and do not go down, in frequency, past 60 Hz.
I use the NS10's in conjunction with a pair of Kef Correlli speakers. They are switchable so I can hear what the track sounds like on the NS10's then switch to the warm full range sound of the domestic Hi Fi Kef speakers. I also have a custom built pair of powerful 'Nightfire' studio monitors, powered by a Yamaha 1000 Watt amplifier, for really loud, full range listening. I call that 'listening in full Technicolor!
Check out Nightfire by Emailing Ian Warrener at iannightfire@pa-direct.co.uk .... tell him Dec sent you!

Thought for the end of the Year
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.
The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, even where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats.
Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.
She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall.
The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.
"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."
