"You don't have to blow out my candle to make yours glow brighter" a comment on racial bigotry.
Binder has recently discovered a new toy: the rather expensive Waycom flat-screen monitor, which allows the user to write directly on its surface and affect the data on the screen, In the case of Auto-Tune, says Binder, this is the ultimate level of control. "You go into freehand mode and you can trace the graph and very, very accurately follow the wave of the vocal," he explains. "Once you get comfortable with the geometry, you can bend lines and smooth out all the imperfections. You can also get crazy with it - someone once drew a line that went off the graph and when we applied it to a guitar you could make it scream up three octaves and then dive bomb, all in under three seconds. It's a great effect for electronica and genres like that. It's going to change the world of Auto-Tune-ing."
"Behind every successful man, there is a woman
And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two."

I was thrilled to be the only Recording Artist invited to Dame Vera Lynn's 90th Birthday at The Imperial War Museum. Vera 'won the war for Britain'. That is her reputation ... as a young girl she traveled to every World War 2 hot spot and entertained the troops...she was called 'Britain's secret weapon'. Her daughter Virg was our bridesmaid and my Sandy spent many happy times living with the family in London whenever she [Sandy] played a season dancing at the London Palladium. Maggie Thatcher was so nice ... plus Norman [Lord Tebbit] - Ann Widdicombe , lots of The Liberal Party ... Dora Bryan, the legendary 'Hello Dolly' star ... David Jacobs from his ground breaking 'Juke Box Jury' TV series of the Sixties ... The Dad's Army gang were there including my Water Rats pal Bill Pertwee. A very 'few', very select lot. Simply chatting with Baroness Thatcher brought the hairs standng up on my neck - unbelievable. Catherine Jenkins became such a sweety and I am sure will be a life long pal ... she sang Vera's 'We'll Meet Again' ... so beautifully. The list of 'Lords' and 'Ladies' was a bit good - even though it was extremely private and cosy. Victoria and I journeyed home by train with Dora ... and boy, did she tell us stories. Sandy could not come as she was at the funeral of a dear friend Harry ... we will miss him on our trips to Spain. Just check out how huge Vera Lynn was in those dark days ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZtEBPq5-Ic Now that is a 'real' Superstar! Looking like that, so young, and dodging bullets the next minute?

My Reply:Uncle Dec,Good day to you and how are you doing. I guess. It's been a while I had a chat with you and I really missed that moment. At times I just write to say hello...I guess I can be that naughty ... lol!I am writing you because I am about to do something crazy...I guess. I'd like to invest into a ProTools HD
1 system but I am asking myself why should I?Well, I was able to have one or two reasons and those reasons are these:Most studios around the world now are going the ProTools direction and it can really be a pain in the neck telling the session engineer to tweak to my taste....so I guess having my ProTools workstation will ease the pain. All, I'll just have to do is transfer my ProTools session(s).Secondly, another reason is because of audio for film recording i.e voice-overs, ADR, music and SFX....But apart from these reasons, I have no other ones.
I need your opinion uncle Dec, I need to know if it will be a total waste of money or not. Before I heard about protools, I have making music and I beleive it's not the machine that makes the music (just have you have tot me and now I know)...I hope to read from you soon...really miss you and can't wait to meet you...Regards,'kk' [Nigeria]PS:No matter how rich I get, I want to be able justify myself and also be accountable for every dime I spend, I cant afford to live with that regret...it really hurts.

Make it a Great Week ......KKVery few people can afford Protools HD for home use!It is generally installed in top studios. The basic cost is around £15,000 ... And that is before you start to look at self powered plug ins .. They cost around £2,000 each! Most guys [like me] have Protools Mbox or Digidesign 001 or 002 .... ... This is the basic Protools .... They are not upgradable to HD.The most important point is that you need the most powerful Mac computer available as you very quickly run out of CPU [Computer Processing Unit] power to run the plug ins etc. That is why the big studio have self powered plug ins.It is important to use the CPU power as sparingly as possible .... Learn to use the buses economically [so you can use one plug in over many channels]. Also learn to bounce down multi tracks of, say vocals, down to two tracks [left and right] ... The more tracks you use the slower the computer will work. So, Protools is not the fantastic 'answer to all problems' .... In itself it creates a lot more problems. For instance, with Mbox there are only two outputs .. So all the FX, compressing etc. has to be done within the computer. It also only has a maximum of 32 audio channels [unlimited midi channels]I still prefer to use my Roland Hard Disc recorder as I can have 8 outputs which I can put outboard FX and compressors etc. on.HD will allow as many channels as you want and also allow those channels as outputs to a regular mixing desk for processing of each channel.I have heard fantastic results from Digidesign 001 and I have also heard dreadful results from HD ... So you are right, it is all down to the person making the music!

============================================The gags: ..... from Willie [ Wrong Email Address! ]
A man checked into a hotel in Pretoria. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally typed the wrong e-mail address, and without realizing his error, he sent the e-mail.
Meanwhile .......somewhere in Cape Town a widow had just arrived home from her husband's funeral. The widow decided to check her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which Read:
To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've arrived
Date: June 3, 2005
I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now, and you
are allowed to send e-mails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been
checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing you then!
Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.
