Radio ... did it turn you on to music? [the importance of radio]
The thing about becoming a musician is that at some point, probably in your
youth, you made that decision that you wanted to be someone great, someone
artistic, someone who expressed all those things in the heart and soul of man in
that perfect heart and soul language, the language of music. You may be
able to remember that moment when you made that decision. It was a pretty
momentous moment and one that changed your life goals, your dreams, who you hung
out with and everything about your life from that moment forward. And
there is a good chance you made that decision while listening to the radio.
What drives us to that decision? Many times, it is a musical hero that we hear or see that makes us say, "I want to be like him (or her)". And for many decades, the venue that has exposed all of us every genre of music was radio. Radio was the perfect media for its time. It was something we could have anywhere we were. We could have it in the house, in our rooms, on our persons as we walked to school or work and in the car where we spend a lot of our time.
So
as you moved past that momentous moment when that decision was made, you began
to daydream about how great it would be if you were that musical hero whose song
was in heavy rotation on the radio.
Getting radio airplay has always been a huge goal for any artist who is seeking
success in the area of popular music. So the first step of breaking into
radio as a musical act is to get a feel for how radio works and with a
particular focus on how to get a song radio airplay.
" #5: Customer service diplomacy means going the extra mile. The extra courtesy, the extra knowledge, the extra effort - little things can have big impact. You can make a meaningful positive difference by going the extra mile. ." Dan Kennedy

Not being overly impressed with any computer based guitar software .... I am impressed with the reviews of this software. Sadly there is no 'guarantee' offered, so it is impossible to know how good it really is unless you commit yourself to purchase [with no return policy]. Not like anything we offer [grin!] I am a great believer in 'dosh back immediately... no reason needed'.
In real terms, the fact is that guitar playing will only be as good as the guitar player. This has always been the case .... Brian May can make any guitar and any amp. sound like Brian May in about three minutes of fiddling!
I have heard many technically great guitar players sound extremely uninteresting because they do not play 'the sound' they simply play the notes [usually playing them accurately, fast ... but not exciting]. Just playing through an overload channel or pedal does not automatically make the sound exciting. That is why most Pros steer clear of Line 6 POD type pedals.
So, I will always go for the tried and tested Marshall with Fender Strat or Gibson Les Paul. I have released a stunning book on the subject: "So You Wanna Record Guitar?" www.makehits.com/recordingguitar.htm . I personally use the Marshall JMP1 rack valve module for recording with Marshall Valvestate rack amp. added for live work plus a Marshall 4 X 12 cabinet .... I use the ancient Digitech 256 FX unit [because you can really hear it work] .... this way, using a midi control pedal on stage I can access all the sounds that I use on various records I have released ... they are all stored in Midi form. The JMP1 and the Digitech are Midi addressable.
It is interesting that there is a sudden rush of guitars offering CPU based sound modelling ... including tuning and intonation. Variaxe by Line 6 were the first, I believe ... see comments at http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/archive/index.php/t-131891.html and Gibson are the new leaders in this field http://www.gibson.com/robotguitar/
I hope this helps.Regards

The gags: ..... Willy again! Evil but funny!
Suddenly a cow walked into the road and, unable to stop in time, the
limo hit the cow.
Slightly shaken up, the driver went to see if the cow was alright.
"Is it alright?" asked Victoria Beckham.
The driver prodded the cow with his foot and shook his head. "No
ma'am,
it's dead."
"Well you were driving, so you can go tell the farmer what
happened!"
So the driver went off to the nearby farm. A couple of hours later he
came back holding a bottle of wine, his clothes scruffy and messed up.
"Oh my god, what happened to you?" Victoria exclaimed.
"Well ma'am," explained the driver, "the farmer gave me
this bottle of
wine, the farmer's wife gave a kiss and their daughter made love to
me."
"Just what the hell did you say to them?"
"I'm Victoria Beckham's driver and I've just killed the cow
