 30 Seconds With Dec  - Number 3

My Goodness, I always try to keep it quiet when I go overseas to write.  But all the Radio Stations and papers seem to have found out that I am here trying to be quiet.

Even Kevin Woodford [Ready Steady Cook] found out and we did an amazing Radio programme this morning...so good, in fact, that they insisted we continued on and made two, probably three programmes from it.  I would have to say that all the radio guys wanted to hear my take on 'X Factor' ... which is currently nearly it's climax in the UK on TV.

It's only a TV show

As I keep explaining to all the guys and to Email writers: "It's only a TV show".   It is nothing to do with creating stars.  It is simply to do with creating a TV series which will bring in the viewers.  Much like in the old days the easiest way to fill a theatre was to have a talent competition.  Throughout history Talent shows, whether on Radio, TV, Theatre have been massively successful.   But rarely have there been Stars made from them.

My band is the classic example

My band featured on one of the biggest ever talent shows...'Opportunity Knocks' in the UK.  We made little impression on the show.  But after the requisite years learning our craft and using the tried and tested method for success .... we had Number Ones and Hits coming out of our ears....Platinum albums, Hit TV series, Record breaking tours.  But none of that came from the original talent show.  Le Marr, in the UK, has proved that there is only one way to success...and it is not from a talent show..... he did not win his particular TV talent show .... almost refuses to talk about it and yet is one of the Top stars in the UK now.

By the way, the method for success that almost every Star has used is set out in explicit manner in 'How To Make A $Million From Your Music' www.makehits.com .... it works every time.

The guy who ran 'Opportunity Knocks' [Hughie Green] became a great pal later in life....he couldn't even remember us being on his show!

"I've got all the money I'll ever need - if I die by four o'clock this afternoon." - Henry Youngman

Karaoke - the ultimate lyric master-class

You will be shocked to know that I find Karaoke shows fascinating.  Yep.....

Any chance I get, while overseas, I sit in at Karaoke shows, just for one reason.

I NEVER watch the artist, because they just have nothing to do with our highly sophisticated industry.  Having said that, I have done some incredible Karaoke Shows with my Star pals....no novices allowed....just for our own fun and to help Charity.  Did one a few weeks ago with Bobby Davro, Kenny Lynch, Jon Virgo, Steve Baxter [X Factor winner last year]....stunning bit of fun...and all for a major charity.

The reason I sit quietly taking notes is that by watching the lyrics go by on the screen it cements into my brain that the classic Hit toons of today and yesterday all follow the same rules and regulations, particularly as regards repetition and the few number of differing words.  Listening to classics like 'America' by Neil Diamond shows in no uncertain manner how the experts use and re-use the great key words within the song.

Lesson:   get yourself along to every Karaoke show you can when on holiday....plenty of paper in hand and absorb that great lesson on how few differing words the great writers use and how often they repeat the words and the great lines.

Will you help a special needs kid at Christmas?

I am in the middle of organising a 'Christmas Party of a Lifetime'  for 400 special needs kids at The Atlantis Nightclub on Eastbourne's pier.... 3.30pm-7pm.  Monday 5th Dec.,

The club has given us the venue free and we have Beckets Newspapers sponsoring.  You may know I am the Patron of 'Lark in The Park' Charitable Trust and we intend to give the kids a day to remember.

We have 100 taxis organised [provided free by the taxi drivers]  also coaches and two Dotto fun trains ... we have stilt walkers, magicians, jugglers, music, great acts, Santa Claus.

I will send a separate Email with details of how you can help ... but basically it will cost £25 to provide this party for each Special Needs Child plus an attendant carer.

The  Ninth Search Engine Optimisation tip:

For those with  Music Web sites. I hope you installed Google Toolbar.  In order to see your own website's Google Page Rank, as well as others, you must have the Google Toolbar installed in your computer.  You can get this free from:  http://toolbar.google.com

First tip I gave you was to link to successful sites relevant to what your site is hoping to achieve.  You can do no better than link to us at our three sites:    www.makehits.com/addurlcom.htm  www.makehits.co.uk/addurl.htm  and www.liveperforming.com

Many have done that ... you will notice the change in your search engine positions.

Seeing that a #1 Ranked site for the keyword you decided on all those weeks ago [ say 'film music making'] only has a page ranking of 4 is only good news for us.....because a Page Ranking of 4 should be easy to obtain.

Remember the ONLY way to increase our website's Page Rank is by getting other websites to link to us [getting other sites to caste votes for us].  In future weeks I will teach you the right way to get thousands of links pointing to your music website in a matter of a few days.

So, get going on researching the sites with your key word using  the programme I gave you to visit a few websites - go to http://www.goodkeywords.com  .  Once you begin to understand the logics involved we will really attack the site that you have decided to attack.

Good Advice on projects and product purchase

"Many of us operate in information overload.  Everyday we get emails, FedEx packages,
and phone calls about some product that we just can't miss.

You need to learn to say, "Yes - I can miss it!   Until I finish this current project, I simply don't need
to take on another."

Willie Crawford.

The visual laugh

We all like a laugh, so each week I will give you a 'visual' laugh, just mouseclick on the link [don't forget to come back?].  Funny!

The gags:  "NEVER QUESTION A DRUNK"

A  woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected:
A Litre of 2% milk,
A carton of eggs,
A Litre of orange juice,
A head of lettuce,
A can of coffee,
And one pack of bacon.

As she was unloading her items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk
standing behind her watched as she placed the items in front of  the cashier.

While the cashier was ringing up her purchases, the drunk calmly stated,"You must be single."

The woman was a bit startled by this proclamation, but she was intrigued by
the derelict's intuition, since she was indeed single. She looked at her six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly
unusual about her selections that could have tipped off the drunk to her marital status. Curiosity getting the better of
her, she said "Well, you know what, you're absolutely correct. But how on earth did you know that?"

The drunk replied, "'Cause you're ugly."
