A huge reaction to the Streisand interview  [Barbra Streisand with Jonathan Ross]

Whoooooh!

What a reaction to my piece last week on the Barbra Streisand interview on TV in the UK … not all thought it was good ….

“Dec,

Are you taking the pi**?   Jon's [Jonathan Ross]  interview was total toilet and my opinion is backed up by the reviews after the show.

Incredible he has probably the most gifted woman singer on the planet and he does the usual trick of "look I'm also a comedian and can prove it  by this dog pic sketch".  [he showed a number of pictures of his dogs dressed in differing costumes – Barbra looked perplexed]

It was painfully unfunny and surely you could read that Barbara just placated him and looked uncomfortable.  He's a rich moron and didn't ask any of the burning questions we all wanted answered by this wonderful artist.

Yet another example of a waste of our licence fee.  He always makes the show revolve around him which is showbiz but for someone of her stature he acted like a Sun reporter.

No, if you want to see how it should have be done go to YouTube and watch Parky [Michael Parkinson]  interview and respect her.  Parky always researched his subject and as you keep telling us practice makes perfect.

Regards

Alan”

"The darkest hour is just before dawn.

So if you're going to steal your neighbour's milk, that's the time to do it."

Brilliant new idea [ Guitar and vocal computer recording guys will love this ]

POK is a DAW [computer based recording] foot controller that uses wireless USB technology on the 2.4Ghz radio frequency band for hands-free control over your recording workstation. It makes use of the built-in keyboard shortcut keys that are part of every DAW's software program.

What a fabulous idea for self recording … no more having to hover the mouse over the record button on the screen while waiting to drop in your vocal or guitar part …. Altogether fabulous.

Jimi Hendrix model guitars.   [ fascinating interview ]

An recorded Interview with Janie Hendrix on the Introduction of the New Jimi Hendrix model guitars.

What could possibly add to the enormity of Jimi Hendrix’s music legacy in 2009 — 39 years after the still-ruling sonic genius of electric guitar departed the planet?

Here, his sister provides great insights into the genius … and the new guitars just released.

Testimonials

“Hi Dec hope you are well,

Looks like things could be getting a bit interesting soon for me as I have a single out on I-Tunes on November 9th!

The song as called "Stay Forever" & the MySpace address is www.myspace.com/deanjamessongwriter -

I have high hopes for the "Unplugged" version & am already getting requests to use it as a wedding song so it definitely plucks the old heart strings!

Many thanks for your help (& all the help in the past)

Best wishes, Dean James”

Subscriber's Section [ Showcase?  Managers? ]

“Hi Dec,

I went to a pop showcase in London West End and I spoke to the owner of the event and asked to perform in his up and coming shows, he said post him a demo and take it from there, so I left it like that and watch the show.

I saw a couple of acts who had their managers there and I was so impressed with the acts I thought when I get home I will write to their managers and ask for guidance.

I wrote to Jamelia's management team and a few other, but only one came back to me and that was Jamelia's management team. He asked for me to send a demo and take it from there.

I did, but didn't hear nothing after that, so I phoned to see the results and he said that he needs pictures, so I told him I will send good photos to him.

My friend had to cancel my photo-shoot, so I thought time is being wasted so I called again and said that I know that the Popshow is coming up again and I see that one of his acts is to perform there again, is it possible for us to meet up then and have a chat?

To my surprise he said yes, we could have a drink and chat at the show, and he also said that I should call tomorrow so he could give me a time to meet.

I 'm a bit scared now and I really want to leave a good impressions WHAT ADVICE could you give me to seal this meeting in the bag and that he will take me under his companies wing.

All the advice you need and require is in 'How to Make A $Million From Your Music'......and I do mean every single bit of the advice.

The looks, the hair, the skin tone, teeth, nails, make-up.....the outfits, the manner, the attitude, the conversational skills, negotiation skills, the way to present a demo ... and the live presentation.

There is nothing I can add to that.  It's all there.

On a 'down' note I wouldn't hold a showcase like that in very high regard....very little talent has ever come from showcases.  There is an Industry Standard way of conducting a career ... and again, it is all in 'How to Make A $Million'.  [ Order Here ]

Jamelia seems to have crossed over completely into management.

The 'real' stars are found performing live, honing their skills, writing and performing their songs...building a fan base/ database .... filling venues with their ever increasing following....then selling white labels, posters, tour brochures, 10X8 pictures to all those admiring fans.

Eventually, selling the records into shops locally, then through the county and eventually through the country.....

An artist with sold out signs, selling 1,000 records a week with a database of 40,000 will certainly get the attention of record companies, publishing companies and then YOU can choose your management and agency.....the way you propose is the opposite way around and may lead you to great disappointment.

Best of luck....let me know how you get on.

Regards

The gags: .....      [ A Pope's skull cap from Willie ]

After the passing of Pope John Paul II, the Cardinals had the duty to go through the late Pope's personal effects. One of the Cardinals noted that there had once been an inscription on the inside of the Pope's skullcap.

The inscription was obviously very old and much obscured from wear and the passage of time.

Curious, the Cardinals sent the skull cap for study at the Vatican's antiquities department.  Experts applied themselves to the task utilizing the latest in computer technology and encryption analysis.

They found that the inscription was in the ancient Hebrew language and after much work, they cracked the code and translated the text.

The results were handed to the perplexed Cardinal who read:

Benny & Malka's Wedding 19th October , 1935 Krakow, Poland
