What an excellent interview [Barbra Streisand with Jonathan Ross]
Having missed the original airing of the interview on last Friday how thrilled I was to catch a repeat last night [Sunday].
She is so sublimely calm … collected … and altogether charming.
I just love the way USA artists are so ‘ready for it’ … in that they are prepared, rehearsed and most of all ‘funny’. It is reckoned that the funniest ad-libs are the rehearsed ones – and from my experiences of performing on TV and Radio in the USA, the PR [Press Representation] guys are superb at preparing the artist for the appearance … the predict the questions and supply the best answers … nothing left to chance.
Barbra even had the requisite ‘swear-word’ in her script … why? Who knows? The UK is the only country in the world where the entire population would not freak out at ‘bad language’
And Jonathan was calm and distinguished … such a change.
Which reminds me, I was a guest last night at Charthills Golf and Country club … playing golf with lots of my pals [came 2nd] The entertainment was provided by Dave Lee, Bradley Walsh, Brian Conley and Richard Digence. I have not seen a lot of Bradley live, I love his recent TV acting series … stunning talent… he was so funny last night … but why did he and Brian have to ‘Eff’ and ‘Blind’ so much? You could actually see the audience grimace.
The lady sitting next to me … she simply asked: “why do they have to do that? Do they not realise it gives a lot of offence?”.
Hmmmm!

Replies From Record companies [ This is a hoot! ]
We have all heard stories of music makers sending actual past hit records to Record companies pretending that they are recently recorded demos … well ….
These are actual replies that a Member got to Hits he sent… he asked me to blank out the names of the unfortunate A&R men. The reply to ‘Zanadu’ is my favourite.
“Thanks for the demo. Had a good listen and impressed by the use of vocals, some nice hooks and arrangement.”
M** W*** (K*****/H***** Music MDT) January
“I’ve been playing it to one or two prospective clients and the feedback has been good.”
A***** M***** (A** Publishing) November
“There is some potential in your material………last song, the ballad is really nice and you should try to send it to some film companies because it would be a nice Telefilm song like Dawson’s Creek.”
”A******** B****** (A and R manager, D** Music Group, Italy.)
“I think there is definitely great potential in the songs and the writing, that demonstrate more than a work in progress.”
C***** R*** (M******* Music Production.)
“I was very impressed by the standard of your material….we would still be interested in working with you at a later date….. I would like to keep hold of your demo c.d. and I will pass it on to any suitable contacts.”
A*** L********* (F**** H**** Productions.)
“Hi Tony! It's G*** here - many thanks for your CD demo. I think I've heard all the tracks before and still like them a lot. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to place them in London or Italy for you but I think you should keep sending them out - there's definitely potential there.
All the best for now!”
G*** (G*** M**** production)
“As far as the girl duo project goes - I like "LITTLE DREAM" and "IN YOUR EYES", What I will do is pass them on to the girl band. With regards to the song ideas etc - there is some interesting stuff and I would like to have a go at possibly re-working and collaborating on one or two of them. I do like some of the ideas within the songs. Thanks for letting me have a listen and I look forward to your reply.”
A*** L********* (F**** H**** Productions)
“Many thanks for the CD.
Zanado is a good catchy track.
I wish you every success with the song.”
Sincerely
D**** M***** (J*** Productions LTD)
“I do like the tunes”

Consistent Top Listings [ how to get top of Search Engine listings? ]
I have found a stunning advice video that will really help you with your music site rankings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My0CoehHJr0 ….
PPC [Pay Per Click] is the classic method of getting your website at top of sponsored search results for free. All you have to do is choose keywords that are related to your website and place them within your web pages.
As easy as this sounds, for an average webmaster this is usually a quite daunting and arduous task without any guarantee on the success. It takes a watchful eye and quite a bit of maintenance.
I had an Email from what looks like a good company who will help.
“PPC with Cherryone Web Design http://www.cherryoneweb.com enables you to focus on operating your core business while we manage and optimize your online advertising campaign. We have the ability to monitor and maintain your advertisements' stats 24 hours a day, to ensure its effectiveness and cost efficiency.

“Hi Dec,
Hope you are well .
I just wanted to ask your advice , I’ve been publishing my own songs under my publishing company (that I bought from you) . I’m still recording my songs onto mini-disc along with all the paperwork and is held in storage box at bank,
Is it still a safe format to record my songs on mini-disc ? should I update and store songs on CDs instead ?
it’s just that I have a mini disc player and p.a. at home so it’s an easy way to get the song down
look forward to hearing from you
thanks
N***”

Copyright law states that the copyright exists from the first moment any music/composition/song is committed to hard copy … that can be paper, tape, CD, or any known form of recording.
Therefore your minidiscs are quite adequate for this purpose. It is merely a ‘proof of inception’ … hence the reason most folk use the jiffy bag dated and posted back to yourself system … tried and tested. Really no need to pay for a bank secure box … I don’t.
However, it has been found that all forms of disc recording can corrupt in time, particularly CDs. It is advisable to have multiple copies kept in separate safe, cool, dark environments.
As regards computer data it is essential to keep separate safe copies.

The gags: ..... [naughty but very funny! From Willy ]
A woman, in her fifties, is at home happily jumping unclothed on her bed and squealing with delight.
Her husband watches her for a while and asks, "Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look? What's the matter with you?"
The woman continues to bounce on the bed and says, "I don't care what you think. I just came from having a mammogram and the doctor says that not only am I healthy but I have the breasts of an 18 year old."
The husband replies, "What did he say about your 55 year old arse?"
"Your name never came up," she replied
